The First Day You...

Well, Abby Jane today was the first day that you put your shoes on all by yourself. We were getting ready for church. Mom had already put your dress and tights on and then had left to go and finish getting ready. You found your tan shoes, put them on and then came walking out. The problem was they were on the wrong feet and they did not match your red dress. I was still amazed that you are old enough and smart enough to go through the process of finding your shoes and putting them on. It is even cool that you knew you needed to put your shoes on. Your mother and I think that you are very smart. We are amazed at how quickly you pick up on things.

At church today, you were looking through a Pinocchio book. In the front they had different pictures of Pinocchio. You pointed to his nose in each one and did your best to say nose. You mom has done a good job teaching you different body parts. You know all the parts on your face as well as your hands, fingers and toes. I was amazed to realize that you were able to recognize that a cartoon drawing was of a person and that the oval shape on his face was his nose. I was in a zone thinking about how the brain learns and develops and how advanced we as humans are to understand at such a young age something symbolic as a cartoon.

You are starting to try to repeat what we say more often. I already think you voice is cute and I am sure it will just be adorable when you start to talk. You are such a little angel. You are very good about saying prayers with us. We usually say, “Let’s say a prayer” or “Fold your arms” and you usually do it right away, even if we already set your food down and you are ready to eat. It is so cute to see you fold you arms and kneel down.
